Piggy Bank

Year: 2018

Client: Tools For Everyday Life

Material: Cork

Designed in response to a brief set by the ‘Tools for everyday life’ collective involving 7 designers in the North East of England and exhibited at ICFF NYC.

The piggy bank is result of an exploration into the material of cork. Usually seen in the everyday as ‘stoppers’ or ‘plugs’ due to its soft tactile nature, these piggy banks have looked to utilise these properties.

The soft minimal form is composed of two components which fit effortlessly together. The action involved in accessing the bank has been designed to mirror the simplicity of the object. Simply take a coin and flick the lid up using the coin slot.
